Local Attractions

Wingham is ideally located on the beautiful NSW Mid North Coast and is the oldest town in the Manning Valley region. Wingham's uniqueness and natural beauty has long made it a highlight for people touring this rich dairy farming area. Timber cutting, particularly cutting of red cedar by the early settlers, was an important original industry and many examples of this can be seen in the historic buildings in Wingham.

Wingham - The Friendly Town

The Wingham Brush is one of the few remaining rainforests on the east coast of Australia. Listed as part of the National Heritage it fronts the Manning Valley, has numerous walks and is the home to grey headed flying foxes in the summer months. National Trust Buildings abound in Wingham. Take a walk around the town square and visit some of these interesting nineteenth century Federation and Victorian style architectural sites.

Headquarters of the Manning Valley Historical Society, the Wingham Museum is open 10am-4pm daily and offers a fascinating look at the regions' history.

Ellenborough Falls, one of the largest single drop waterfalls in the southern hemisphere, is a short drive from Wingham and encompasses a picnic area with kiosk and BBQ facilites.

Another scenic drive away is Dingo Tops, a must for nature lovers, with bush walks and nature trails. Shopping in and around Wingham offers great eateries, arts and crafts stores, galleries and anything else you may need. The Manning River, which passes through the town, is great for fishing, boating, water skiing and many other leisure activities.

The Coast

The Mid North Coastal region of New South Wales is rich in beautiful unspoilt beaches. Whether it is fishing, surfing or taking the family to the beach for the day, you have many choices for a day trip from the Wingham Country Lodge Motel.

Forster/Tuncurry

Is perhaps the best known of the coastal beach towns in the area. The popular twin towns are home to numerous beaches, a popular lake and river system for boating, great shopping and much more.

Old Bar and Saltwater

Are the closest beaches to Taree and Wingham. Surfing is great here and there is a lagoon offering safe swimming. Halliday's Point and Diamond Beach offer patrolled swimming during summer, rainforest walks and an ocean pool. Harrington's long breakwall is known as a fishing paradise. And nearby Crowdy Head's lighthouse provides exceptional views of the coast.

Manning Point

Is an idyllic spot where the Manning River reaches the sea. Any of these coastal towns make great day trips from The Golf Club Motor Inn. Ask the Mark or Gail for help when planning your stay.
